Prague Heritage Reservation

Countless shining spires, golden and royal, such is the beauty of Prague, or rather its historical centre, which truly belongs to one of the most aesthetic heritage zones in the whole of Europe. Hundreds of unique and historically precious buildings show the development of the Czech metropolis including all its architectural styles that took 1,100 years. Prague was one of the most significant cities in Europe during the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque period. Influences of those periods are visible on every corner of Prague.

Prague historical centre has an area of 866 hectares and was added to the list of UNESCO World´s Cultural and Natural Heritage in 1992. It is full of golden spires and dome-shaped roofs of churches and temples, and perhaps this is a reason to call it “Mother Prague” or “Hundred-spired Prague”. In Prague there are over 2,000 protected heritage objects. The historical centre includes the unique complex of Prague Castle and Hradčany. Other protected sites can be viewed from here and these include Malá Strana (Lesser Town) with Charles Bridge, Old Town, Josefov (Jewish quarter), New Town and Vyšehrad.
