Dr. Leongómez is an Associate Professor at Universidad El Bosque in Bogota, Colombia, where he has been a faculty member since 2015, affiliated with the Faculty of Psychology’s Human Behaviour Lab (LACH). 

David completed his Ph.D. at Stirling University (UK), his M.Sc. at the University of Liverpool (UK), and his undergraduate studies at Universidad Pedagógica Nacional (Colombia).

His primary research interests include mate choice and human vocal communication, and the evolutionary origins of human musicality. He is also interested in bioacoustics and psychoacoustics, hormonal effects on human behaviour, and the effects that the interaction between biological signals, both static and dynamic, and social contexts, have on how we are perceived. 

Recently, David is becoming an enthusiast of quantitative methods and R programming, to promote reproducibility and open science.
