The social psychology (SP) working group emphasizes the focus on new concepts, models and SP theories, as well as recent empirical findings from different domains of social psychology (eg., social cognitions, attitudes, group processes, social behaviour) and applying social psychology in different cultural contexts.

The key areas of Social Psychology (SP) include: methodology of SP, social cognition including interpersonal perception and interpretation, personality and self in the social context, attitudes, group processes and group influences), social action and behaviour, macro-social and cultural contexts of social cognition and social behavior.

Special attention will be focused on:

  • Prejudices, stereotyping, and discrimination in different cultural and social contexts
  • The environment as a source of stress, perceived crisis, coping strategies, and social support
  • New perspectives on prosocial behaviour, new forms of aggression, exposure to violence,
  • Perception and interpretation of social norms, social identity, group memberships, group discrimination, thinking about the social world, understanding other people,
  • Self-understanding and self-regulation in interpersonal, social contexts, and cultural contexts
  • Interpersonal relationships, social attraction,
  • Stability and changing attitudes, societal attitudes and values,
  • Group processes, group membership, group decisions and group influences,
  • Critical SP, science and pseudoscience in SP.
